Happy New Year, Jayshree! Thanks for the great tales - "we are here for such a times as this" and the "least of these" (people) can be the mightiest. We never know when the smallest act of kindness and help will make the biggest difference!
I've long contended that a culture's fairy tales, children's stories, shaman's tales and such provide an outsider a view of what the culture considers virtuous, important.
For example among my neighbors here in the north atop the world; Eskimo stories tend to laud patience while Athabaskan tales emphasize quickness. Different approaches necessary to maintaining existence on the tundra or in the taiga that I probably wouldn't have though about if I hadn't hear those stories.
So! Thanks Jayshree I believe your Panchatantra, etc., tales give a far clearer understanding of Indian culture than just the news articles or dry historical texts.
&, of course, very best wishes throughout the New Year!
