Hello Everyone! I hope you're enjoying this Saturday morning. I'd like to share some exciting updates with you.
Firstly, a heartfelt thank you to

No matter how you choose to support this publication, your time is precious, and I am grateful for your support.
Originally, I conceived this publication as a relaxed first-person account and introduction to India in a magazine style, covering diverse topics from ancient India, culture, and travel to modern life in India. But I understand that not all topics may appeal to everyone equally.
To enhance your experience, as we are steadily growing, starting Monday, Feb 12, I'm introducing some changes:
'Free to Read' Navigation Tab: A new tab will showcase selected free posts across various topics for new subscribers. You will still receive new free posts via email. This page is designed to make it easier for new subscribers to access a variety of posts. Visit the site’s home page online to explore a diverse range of stories from the archive and recent posts. Additionally, each week, I will unlock a story from the archive exclusively for this page.
Ancient India Section: For those uninterested in spirituality and mythology, the Ancient India stories will now be a separate section. Initially, everyone is automatically subscribed to this section, but you can choose to unsubscribe following the Substack FAQ instructions. You can visit the site’s home page online to read posts from the 'Ancient India' section after unsubscribing from emails if you wish, as they will no longer be sent to you.
Business Users Section: Soon, I will be adding a dedicated space for professionals seeking comprehensive insights into the business landscape of India - a new section with in-depth coverage of business news, startup developments, and deeper analyses of both multinational and Indian companies operating in India. Most posts will be paid but may be expensed if you are a professional working in fields that require business insights into India. Occasional free posts will also be featured on the 'Free to Read' page. While everyone is automatically subscribed to this section initially, you have the flexibility to tailor your content preferences by following the simple unsubscribe instructions in the Substack FAQ instructions.
Exclusive Content for Paid Subscribers: Coming soon - exclusive photo and video stories offering a 360-degree view of living in India. Experience the charm of a quiet lane on a Saturday afternoon, explore old bungalows, and discover off-the-beaten-track stories.
I believe these changes will make
a more enjoyable and informative magazine-style read tailored to your preferences. To help me understand your reading interests better, please would you take a moment to provide some valuable feedback?
Remember, the limited-time discounted offer is available until Feb 20, 2024. Enjoy the varied stories, including new features, at just $2 per month or $20 annually, reduced from the regular price of $6 per month and $60 annually, valid for the next ten days.
Thank you for being a part of
Your support makes this journey even more exciting.
I hit Ancient India on the poll but honestly I find all of your posts interesting. I am fascinated with all things cultural and historical. I'll be curious how you find the sections to work out. I need to do some work on my home page and I am very reticent to create sections because I feel like it might pigeon hole readers into one category of posts. Thank you for the mention, too!
Hi Jayshree, thank you for the consistently engaging content, and also your recent work on new features for the publication. I am interested in ALL the story types you list above and based on the responses to date it looks like others are, too. I think the ones that are most interesting to me are when you mention how current religious beliefs and customs, and societal values, are illustrated through stories and allegories. And also your personal experiences like the horse shoes and schooling,
